When washing delicate baby clothes, it is important to take several factors into account so that the clothes are not damaged and, most importantly, to prevent the baby from having allergic reactions, dermatitis and diaper rash on their skin.

In this article, all parents or future parents can learn tips for washing delicate baby clothes as well as washing reusable diapers .

What care is needed when washing delicate clothes?

Not only for baby clothes but also for more delicate clothes, such as silk and lace, the care that must be taken during washing is even greater.

Check the clothing label

Before washing delicate clothes, it is important to carefully read the instructions for each item of clothing: whether it can be machine washed, what the recommended temperature is, whether bleach can be used, among other aspects.

Choosing the right program

There are washing machines that have specific programs for delicate clothes or even baby clothes. You should choose one of these programs if your machine has one.

What to do about stains/stains?

It is important to confirm whether it is possible to use bleach on the garment, as mentioned above.

If possible, for clothes with normal soiling, 1 tablespoon for every 5 kg of clothes in the detergent compartment or in the machine drum is enough.

If it is a little dirty, you should add 2 tablespoons and, if it needs to be soaked, it is important to add 2 tablespoons to 4L of warm water (40ºC).

Can I use fabric softener in addition to bleach?

When it comes to washing delicate baby clothes, we do not recommend using fabric softeners because, as they contain a perfume that acts at the end of the wash cycle, they can cause allergic reactions on the skin.

What is the best detergent for baby clothes?

With delicate clothes in mind, we have launched a new detergent for delicate clothes that helps combat bad odors and, as it does not contain enzymes or bleaching agents, it is ideal for delicate baby clothes, wool and silk.

And how do you wash delicate clothes with this new detergent? Simply put about 5-12 mL of detergent in the machine drawer for every kilo of dry clothes.

You can calculate the amount of detergent with the help of our digital dispenser and you can avoid touching the product with the help of the new dispenser cap.

What is the appropriate temperature?

It is recommended that clothes be washed at 30 or 40ºC as this is hot enough to remove stains and dirt from clothes.

However, when your baby is sick, washing at a higher temperature can be beneficial to eliminate more resistant germs.

And how to wash reusable diapers?

Delicate laundry detergent is also suitable for washing reusable diapers: run a very dirty laundry cycle and add the detergent to the washing machine. In this case, you should also avoid using fabric softener as it limits absorption and can irritate the baby's skin.

At the end of the wash, you can choose to do an extra rinse program to remove any detergent residue that may have remained on the diapers.
