Autumn cleaning: the checklist with important tasks
With the arrival of a new season and the return to work and school routines, comes autumn cleaning.
Preparing your home for colder weather will give you the essential comfort you need to enjoy time with your loved ones and even with yourself.
Fall Cleaning Tips
The change in time and climate means colder and rainier weather, fewer hours of sunlight and a greater need to stay indoors. What are some essential tasks to carry out?
Good time to clean your windows
While the weather is still mild, take the opportunity to clean your windows from the outside and then from the inside. We'll tell you how to do it effectively:
- Wipe with a dry cloth to remove as much dust as possible;
- With a few drops of cleaning vinegar, remove any dirt and grease that may be on the glass, as well as any accumulated stains;
- Dry the glass: remove excess water and vinegar with a microfiber cloth;
- Spray the Multipurpose regularly on the surfaces to be cleaned;
- Wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth, let it dry and then wipe it again with a dry cloth.
Wash and tidy up what you have outside
During the summer, it is normal to have furniture outside the house, whether on the balcony or in the garden. Therefore, and while the sun is shining, wash all the furniture and objects you have outside so that they can dry and be stored. This will prevent them from getting damaged.
Check your heating equipment
Chimneys and fireplaces need to be inspected regularly. To avoid the build-up of dirt in your fireplace and chimney and to avoid safety issues, it is a good idea to ask a specialist for help with this type of cleaning and inspection.
Also check the heating and air conditioning, cleaning or changing the filter.
And what goes unnoticed?
Rugs, carpets, cupboards, mattresses, drawers, shoe racks, shower curtains, door handles, baseboards and electronic devices: how often do you clean these items?
Take the opportunity to start a general cleaning without forgetting any details.
Dishwasher and washing machine
These are household appliances that are used all year round and, in some cases, daily. Therefore, cleaning the washing machine and dishwasher according to the manufacturer's instructions has advantages such as:
- Prevents the accumulation of germs;
- Effective cleaning of clothes;
- Reduces limescale build-up;
- Increases the lifespan of the machine.
Hello, winter clothes
Putting away your fresh clothes and checking your winter clothes is normal at this time of year. To avoid worrying about how to wash woolen clothes in the washing machine, pay attention to the following precautions:
- Read the label on each item of clothing;
- Choose the appropriate program;
- The detergent must be suitable for these items, such as Delicate Clothes Detergent;
- Wash at low temperature;
- Check if you can dry your clothes in the machine.
With this change you can select the clothes and even summer shoes/sandals that you want to keep with you and donate or sell what no longer makes sense for you.
Declutter
This tip is not related to autumn cleaning, but it can be a useful addition. This is because, with the deep cleaning of your home, you will probably find objects that you no longer knew you had or that you haven't used in a while.
So, you can choose to declutter: sell or donate everything that is just taking up space in your home.
Autumn cleaning allows you to have your refuge sanitized and prepared for winter, a time when we spend more time at home and feel a greater need for comfort.
Cleaning the windows, sanitizing and tidying up the outside of the house, checking the heating, cleaning appliances and selecting winter clothes to wash are some autumn cleaning tips to put into practice.
