Clothes whitener: a sustainable measure
The textile industry is one of the most polluting, from production, manufacturing, transportation, as well as washing and the short lifespan of some items. This industry is responsible for 10% of CO2 emissions globally, which, according to Público , “(…) represents more emissions than all international flights and maritime transport journeys combined.”
Furthermore, according to Diário de Notícias, it is estimated that the Portuguese throw away 200 thousand tons of clothes per year.
Given this pollution and waste, it is essential that we become increasingly sustainable when washing clothes and extending the lifespan of each item. But how can we do this? Find out all about it here.
Protect your clothes with sustainable laundry whitener
The use of environmentally friendly detergents is essential to reduce the ecological footprint over the lifetime of a garment.
Even more so if we consider that many of the natural products we use can help restore our clothes, thus extending their average lifespan.
Natural percarbonate-based whiteners help restore the original appearance of many fabrics and remove various types of stains. Unlike other commercial bleach-based laundry whiteners, which wear down the fibers of the fabric, or optical brighteners that only give the impression of cleanliness and whiteness to our eyes.
Sodium percarbonate, in addition to caring for the fibers, removes stains and provides natural whitening (a true 3 in 1!), because when it comes into contact with heated water (it is very important to use water temperatures above 30ºC), it releases oxygen and quickly dissolves a wide range of stains (coffee, wine, fruit, sweat, blood, lipstick, etc.).
EcoX ecological whitener: how and where to use it?
To have all these effects on your clothes, EcoX is launching another product to care for your clothes and to complement your laundry detergent. Find out some tips on where and how to use this laundry whitener.
Where to use?
- Completely safe for colored clothes: does not “harm” or fade fabrics;
- To remove stubborn and difficult stains: in these cases, it is advisable to leave it to soak before washing;
- Always check the instructions on the clothing label to see if it allows bleaching;
- ATTENTION: Do not mix the laundry bleach with chlorinated products (bleach/sodium hypochlorite).
How to use?
It is important that you NEVER put laundry bleach directly on wet clothes. Always use one of the following techniques:
- Washing clothes with normal soiling: add 1 tablespoon (15g) for every 5kg of clothes in the detergent compartment or in the machine drum itself;
- Washing very dirty clothes: add 2 tablespoons (30g) for every 5kg of clothes in the detergent compartment or in the machine drum itself;
- For the sauce: add about 2 tablespoons (30g) to approximately 4 liters of warm water (40ºC). Leave the items to soak for up to 2 hours and then wash as normal.
